Sitting is one of the first tricks that should be taught to a Mudhol Hound and lays the ground work for plenty of other techniques. To train a Mudhol Hound to sit up, organize some snacks as a reward, and put your Mudhol Hound on her butt in a corner, to ensure that she is not able to fall either backward or sideways and has very little or no room to stumble.

Teach Your Mudhol Hound to Sit: Acquaint Her With The Words

Protect her from pitching forward by maintaining 1 hand underneath her chin and using your other hand dangle the treat above the Mudhol Hound’s nose. Keep repeating distinctly and intelligibly, “sit.” Do not force her to sit for too long at any one time, however repeat the instruction often and reward her often with plenty of cheers and snacks.

Teach Your Mudhol Hound to Sit: Help Her Keep Her Balance

Throughout her initial lesson she will demand a lot of help and support from your hand to prevent her from pitching forward, but as she gets more control of her stabilizing muscles and realizes what you want, she will count less and less on your hand to hold her steady. Gradually, you can give her less help and support until you’ll merely have to leave one hand in position two or three inches from her neck or chin, to be available to prevent her falling forward; later you can probably take away your hand and just dangle the snack right above the level of your Mudhol Hound’s face.

Teach Your Mudhol Hound To Sit: Remove the Help Incrementally

With regular practice she will stay seated for a good while after you get her to sit. The next step is she should be set up against the wall, so as to provide her support for her back only. Only after she has figured out this and can keep her place easily, practice with her against chair legs, cushions or other things that give her less and less help. Sooner or later she will be able to sustain her balance and sit up without needing something to rest on.

Teach Your Mudhol Hound to Sit: Putting It All Together

During the course of all these lessons the phrase "sit up" will have been ingrained upon her psyche with the assistance of regular repetition. Last is the final training to teach your Mudhol Hound to sit up right after she hears the phrase. It's highly likely, if she has been diligently taught, you will only have to summon her out in the room, show a reward, hold it up a suitable distance from the floor, say "sit up" and she'll obey. Then give her the treat while still in place.

The only prerequisite for flawlessness is to rehearse with her several times daily until she can sit when told and without being shown a snack; give her the treats only once she has obeyed the direction.
