Ten Tips For Training The Pomeranian

All of us long for training the perfect Pomeranian, a pet that’s a CGC or canine good citizen and is well behaved and dependable at all times. Well dreams do come true if the teaching is performed with care and focus. Bear in mind pups learn from the first day and want to be informed what is right, what is wrong, and proper socialization.
Puppies are like young children, they crave regular guidance and training. Training a pup does not have to be a chore, all you have to remember are a few simple rules:

Top Ten Tips For Training Your Pomeranian

  1. Until your pup learns, you must keep an eye on her at all times. When you aren’t able to then you should cage her. Create a plan for the pup, that will serve to help her to calm down easily. The plan has to incorporate things like hourly bathroom visits, feeding times, break times, strolls, play time, education, etc. A pup that has a hectic day has no time to become unoccupied or misbehave.
  2. Teach the pup to heed you. Pomeranians live in packs and instinctively adhere to a leader. If you establish your leadership in no uncertain terms then teaching will eventually become easy because the pup will follow orders at all times and not challenge your authority.
  3. Utilize only positive training methods. Never scream at, strike, or punish your Pomeranian. It’s not only terrible but may trigger behavioral concerns. Use of electrical shocks, prong collars, sprays, et cetera could possibly hurt the animal.
  4. Teach the pup “nothing in this life is without cost.” This is a mantra that is frequently acknowledged as a reliable teaching method. When you apply this, the pup will find out that to experience something like love, a walk, or reward, he has to act well.
  5. Show the significance of “No,” from the first day. Do not encourage behaviors like jumping, mouthing, tug-o-war, barking, or running out of open gates and doorways. Applaud courtesy and just ignore or walk away when there is bad behavior. The pup will certainly discover that if he acts up he will lose his companion/playmate.
  6. To remedy a habit you will need to catch the Pomeranian in the process and surprise him by shaking a canister of pebbles. Once you have done this make him straighten out his behavior and instantly give him a snack and approval. Pomeranians do not call to mind what transpired previously so chastening him after an event is useless.
  7. At all times call/use his name positively. Do not ever say “Bad TOM,” or “No Tom,” this will cause confusion and the Pomeranian will presume that if you call his name then it is for something bad. The pup needs to connect his name with happy events like hugs, petting, strolls, treats, and such. If this occurs he will come happily the moment you call out his name.
  8. Establish a training schedule that is short and sweet, say 10 minutes three times a day. Lengthy recurring sessions can be dull and the Pomeranian will lose interest in learning. Help make learning fun-filled and use trick training to explain directions like sit, down, come and so on.
  9. Bond with the Pomeranian and both of you will like your lessons. The pup must look forward to spending time with you and not stay clear of you by turning tail or hiding. Make sure to socialize the dog quickly. Socialization is one of the most important teachings. The Pomeranian will need to master how to coexist around various other animals, people, sounds, vehicles, and other activities. So, gradually introduce the dog when he is little to ordinary tasks and sounds. Take him to the market/ park, introduce him to children and other animals, and make him unfrightened of the vacuum cleaner and garden hose.
  10. Understand everything about potty training, leash walking, house breaking, in addition to food training. These are introductory lessons that every Pomeranian puppy needs to grasp. Know about all the habits as well as qualities of the breed. This will give you valuable insights on how to properly educate the puppy.

As a Pomeranian parent you have a lot of options. You can choose to train the Pomeranian on your own or enroll at a high quality training school. Training a Pomeranian has several steps: kindergarten, behavior training, doggy sports, showing and conformation, and other facets like therapy dogs, hearing dogs, etc. What standard you decide to teach depends on you as well as the brainpower of your Pomeranian. As you know, different dogs, like humans, have different talents. Choose well and both you and your Pomeranian pup will have exciting times together.
