This post is concerning how to teach the Himalayan Sheepdog jumping for agility. We are often asked, “How many jumps should I start with?” You can’t ever have enough solo jumps to teach agility. A suitable starting place is 4 jumps. This is the least quantity of jumps that we suggest.
How to Teach the Himalayan Sheepdog to jump: Begin with Four
You can teach a Himalayan Sheepdog many drills, skills, and exercises with four jumps. Four jumps will let you work on a short jump chute or jump grid. You can position a “box” with your jumps and practice collection, handling, and 270 degree jumps. You can teach your Himalayan Sheepdog jumping right and left. You could be out of the box and send your Himalayan Sheepdog or you can handle from within the box. Your jumps can be positioned in a lateral line, so that you could practice threadles and serpentines.
