3 Tricks To Teach Your French Bulldog

To teach your French Bulldog tricks, even the easy ones, you should get some small snacks, be in a quiet suitable location and hold the teaching sessions to ten to fifteen minutes or your French Bulldog will begin to get bored. Take note that when he gets something correct give him lots of appreciation and a reward treat, just be mindful not to get him too ecstatic or he will lose focus.

Teach your French Bulldog to give you his paw

To teach your French Bulldog to give you his paw, first get him to sit, then as you say the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and offer him a treat. Now do this again, and after a few successful tries don’t take his paw so fast. State the word ‘paw’, count to 1 and then after that take it. You must notice that he is bringing his paw upward as you state the word. If he does not then return to saying it at the same time. Do it a few more times then slow your response again. After a couple of sessions most French Bulldogs pick this trick up rather quickly.

Teach your French Bulldog to offer you a high 5

Like a lot of tricks the high 5 is a continuation of an earlier trick, in this case it’s the paw trick. Place a treat in your two fingers and raise your hand somewhat higher than you’d do for the paw trick. Your French Bulldog will assume you wish to perform the paw trick and will grab the treat with his paw as we taught him previously. While he reaches up you state “high 5” and give him the treat. As soon as your French Bulldog has mastered the paw trick this one will most likely be really easy to learn and with just a few sessions he will be doing it on hand signal rather than your voice.

Teach your French Bulldog to leap through a hoop

Before you start this 1 I would simply like to ask you to be a little sensible and not hold the hoop too high up as you do not want your French Bulldog to hurt himself while carrying out the trick. Set your French Bulldog on one side of a hula hoop, get him to take note of your hand on the opposite side of the hoop. Place a snack in your hand and give the French Bulldog the command to stop sitting. In the beginning he might try to go around or beneath the hula hoop. In the event that this occurs begin once again. Your French Bulldog wants the snack and will quickly learn that walking around or underneath doesn’t get it so he’ll soon start going through it. Once he does, state “hoop” and offer him the snack. He will quickly be leaping through the hoop on the command of “hoop”. When I first began doing this trick I owned a medium sized dog, so I began with the hoop 6 inches from the floor and slowly raised it to waist high. If you own a smaller sized dog you may wish to begin with the hoop touching the floor so he just goes through the hoop and then slowly elevate it more as he gets used to the trick.

I know you have enjoyed learning these 3 tricks you can teach your French Bulldog. Have patience with your French Bulldog and above all, have a good time!
