Check your library or online to learn more about Welsh Terriers to determine if another animal may be more suited for the family.
Rearing the Welsh Terrier is a big committment and not cheap. Family members has to know that they will be required to forego other activities to spend time with the Welsh Terrier. If that requirement turns out to be too daunting, you should think about postponing until the child is responsible enough to help raise the Welsh Terrier.
