All of us imagine training the perfect Beauceron, a pup that is a CGC or canine good citizen and is very well behaved and trustworthy at all times. Well dreams do come true if the teaching is performed with care and focus. Realize pups learn from the first day and really need to be advised what is correct, what is not, and proper socialization.
Pups act like young children, they desire regular supervision and training. Training a pup doesn’t have to be a nightmare, all you want to keep in mind are a few basic guidelines:

Ten Tips For Training Your Beauceron

  1. Til your pup is trained, you must keep an eye on him at all times. If you can’t then you have to crate her. Make a routine for the pup, that will help him to settle very quickly. The plan needs to include things such as hourly bathroom visits, eating times, sleep times, walks, play time, instruction, and so forth. A pup that has a busy day has no time at all to be unoccupied and misbehave.
  2. Train the pup to heed you. Beaucerons live in packs and naturally need a leader. If you establish your dominance in no uncertain terms then teaching will eventually become easy as the pup will comply with orders at all times and not challenge your authority.
  3. Use only constructive training strategies. Never ever holler at, hit, or abuse your Beauceron. It is not just harsh but may provoke behavioral concerns. Using electric shocks, prong collars, sprays, et cetera could certainly wound the animal.
  4. Show the pup “absolutely nothing in life is free.” This is a method of teaching that is generally acknowledged as a very useful coaching tool. When you execute this, your pup will learn that to experience anything like affection, a walk, or treat, he will need to behave well.
  5. Explain the significance of “No,” from day one. Do not embrace actions such as leaping, mouthing, tug-o-war, snarling, or running out of open gates and doors. Praise courtesy and ignore or leave when there is bad conduct. The pup will learn that if he misbehaves he will lose his companion/playmate.
  6. To remedy a habit you must catch the Beauceron in the act and surprise her by shaking a canister of stones. As soon as you have done this help him deal with his behavior and immediately offer him a snack and appreciation. Beaucerons do not think of what happened previously so scolding him after an event is of no use.
  7. Make sure to call/use his name positively. Never say “Bad TOM,” or “No Tom,” this will create mental confusion and the Beauceron will presume that if you call his name then it is for something bad. The doggie must connect his name with happy things like hugs, petting, walks, food, and such. If this takes place he will respond happily when you call out his name.
  8. Develop a coaching regimen that is short and sweet, say ten minutes three times a day. Lengthy repetitive lessons can be uninspiring and the Beauceron will lose interest in the learning session. Help make learning enjoyable and use trick training sessions to show commands like sit, down, come etc.
  9. Bond with the Beauceron and both of you will definitely have fun with your lessons. The pup should eagerly anticipate spending time with you and not keep away from you by turning tail or hiding. Make certain to socialize the puppy early. Socialization is among the most important teachings. The Beauceron must master how to be with various other animals, people, sounds, vehicles, and other activities. And so, slowly introduce the dog when he is small to regular endeavors and sounds. Take him to the mall/ playground, present him to children and other pets, and make him unafraid of the vacuum and garden hose.
  10. Master everything about crate training, leash walking, house breaking, along with food training. These are kindergarten lessons that every Beauceron puppy needs to understand. Know about all the characteristics as well as peculiarities of the breed. This will give you valuable information on how to successfully train the doggy.

As a Beauceron owner you have plenty of options. You could possibly decide to train the Beauceron by yourself or sign up at a pro training school. Training a Beauceron has numerous levels: kindergarten, obedience training, doggy sports, showing and conformation, and other aspects like therapy dogs, hearing dogs, et cetera. What values you choose to train hinges on you together with the brainpower of your Beauceron. As you know, various dogs, like people, have different talents. Choose wisely and both you and your Beauceron pup will have good times together.
