Are you trying to teach your Schillerstovare to sit? The skill of sitting up is regularly taught to very small dogs, however larger doggies are another story. It’s tough for them to keep their balance.

After consistent training your Schillerstovare will sit up long after you command her. Next she should be set against your wall, so as to provide her a support for her back. After she has gotten the knack of this and can maintain her posture effortlessly, practice with her up against chair legs, cushions or other things that provide her less and less help. In the end she will be able to sustain her balance and sit without needing anything to lean on.

The only necessity for perfection is to rehearse with her several times a day until she sits up when commanded to and without being shown a reward; give her the snacks only after she has obeyed the order.

Teach Your Schillerstovare Other Tricks

You have now the basis for teaching your Schillerstovare many other skills. She now can be taught to beg by waving your hand up and down in front of her paws, which she will move in conjunction with yours. She also can learn to salute by bringing one paw up to the side of her head, or to hold a wooden pipe in her mouth, or to wear a hat on her head or wear other articles of clothing.

While teaching a Schillerstovare to tolerate being clothed, do not try to make her wear too many garments at once. Try her at first with just a cap. Soon after she gets used to that you could put on a coat and over time introduce her to more garments.
