Three Tricks You Can Teach Your Mudhol Hound Today

3 Tricks To Teach Your Mudhol Hound
3 Tricks To Teach Your Mudhol Hound

To teach your Mudhol Hound tricks, even the simple ones, you should have in hand some tasty treats, teach him in a quiet suitable place and hold the training sessions to under 15 minutes or your Mudhol Hound will begin to get tired. Remember when he gets something correct offer him great deals of praise and a reward snack, just take care not to get him excessively thrilled or he will lose concentration.

Teach your Mudhol Hound to give you his paw

To train your Mudhol Hound to offer you his paw, first get him to sit, then as you say the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and offer him a snack. After that repeat this, and after a couple of practices do not take his paw so fast. Say the word ‘paw’, count to one and only then take it. You need to notice that he is bringing his paw upward as you say the word. If he does not then go back to saying it at the same time. Do it a couple of more times then slow your reaction again. After 2 or 3 sessions most Mudhol Hounds pick this trick up rather quickly.

Teach your Mudhol Hound to offer you a high five

Like a lot of tricks the high five is a continuation of a basic trick, and in this case the paw trick. Place a snack in your two fingers and lift your hand slightly higher than you’d raise it for the paw trick. Your Mudhol Hound will think you wish to perform the paw trick and will grab the treat with his paw as we trained him previously. As he reaches up you say “high five” and offer him the snack. When your Mudhol Hound has mastered the paw trick this one will most likely be extremely easy to learn and with only a few sessions he will be performing it on hand signal instead of your voice.

Teach your Mudhol Hound to jump through a hoop

Before you begin this one I would just like to ask you to be a little practical and not suspend the hoop higher than necessary as you don’t want your Mudhol Hound to harm himself while practicing the trick. Place your Mudhol Hound on one side of a hula hoop, get him to take notice of your hand on the opposite side of the hoop. Place a snack in your hand and give the Mudhol Hound the command to stop sitting. At first he may try to go around or beneath the hula hoop. If this happens start once again. Your Mudhol Hound wants the treat and will quickly find out that going around or underneath does not get it so he will quickly start going through it. The moment he does, say “hoop” and offer him the treat. He will quickly be leaping through the hoop on the command of “hoop”. When I started off teaching this trick I had a medium sized dog, so I began with the hoop 6 inches from the ground and gradually brought it to waist high. On the occasion that you have a smaller dog you may want to start with the hoop touching the floor so he just goes through the hoop and then slowly lift it once he gets used to the trick.

I expect you have enjoyed these 3 tricks you can teach your Mudhol Hound. Have patience with your Mudhol Hound and most importantly, have a good time!
