Teach Your Pungsan Dog to Sit

Are you making an attempt to teach your Pungsan Dog to sit? The talent of sitting up is quite easily taught to very small dogs, yet much larger pet dogs are another story. It’s hard for them to maintain their balance.

Teach Your Pungsan Dog to Sit: Prep

Sitting up is one of the most basic tricks that should be taught to a Pungsan Dog and lays the ground work for a large number of other skills. In order to train a Pungsan Dog to sit up, prepare some treats as a perk, and set the Pungsan Dog on her haunches in a corner, to make sure that she won’t be able to fall either aft or sideways and has very little or no room to lose balance.

Teach Your Pungsan Dog to Sit: Familiarize Her With The Words

Stop her from tilting towards you by sticking your hand under her chin and using your other hand hold her snack above your Pungsan Dog’s nose. Keep repeating clearly and deliberately, “sit.” Don’t make her sit up for too long at one time, however repeat the instruction routinely and reward her regularly with a lot of praise and treats.

Teach Your Pungsan Dog to Sit: Help Her Maintain Balance

In the beginner lesson she will require quite a bit of assistance from your hand to keep her from pitching forward, but as she gains more control of the stabilizing muscles and learns what you want her to do, she’ll depend less and less upon your hand to keep her in position. Gradually, you can give your Pungsan Dog less support up until you will basically have to keep one hand in position two or three inches from her chin or neck, to be in place to stop her from falling forward; later you may withdraw your hand altogether and merely suspend the snack just above the height of her head.

Teach Your Pungsan Dog To Sit: Remove the Assistance Progressively

After steady practice your Pungsan Dog will sit up well after you command her. The next step is she should be set up against a wall, so as to give her a support for her back. After she has learned this and can hold her posture effortlessly, rehearse with her against chair legs, cushions or other things that give her less and less assistance. At some point she will get the hang of how to keep her stability and sit up without relying on something to rest against.




Teach Your Pungsan Dog to Sit: Putting It All Together

Throughout all this training the command "sit up" will have been instilled upon her mind with the assistance of regular repetition. Lastly here's the final lesson to teach your Pungsan Dog to sit up whenever she hears the phrase. Chances are, if she has been properly instructed, you will merely have to call her out into the room, show her a treat, hold it up a reasonable distance from the ground, say "sit" and she'll obey. Then just give her the reward while still in position.

The only criteria for flawlessness is to rehearse with your Pungsan Dog multiple times daily until she will sit up on command and without being shown a snack; give her the treats only after she has followed the direction.

Teach Your Pungsan Dog Other Tricks

You have now the basis for teaching your Pungsan Dog many other skills. She now can be taught to beg by waving your hand up and down just in front of her paws, which she'll move in sync with yours. She can also learn to salute by bringing one paw up to the side of her head, or to keep a toy in her mouth, or to wear a cap on her head or wear other clothing.

When instructing a Pungsan Dog to tolerate being dressed up, don't try to get her to wear too many garments at the same time. Try at first with just a cap. After she gets familiar with that you can put on a coat and little by little introduce her to more clothing.
