Teaching Your Kaikadi To Sit

Teach Your Kaikadi to Sit

Are you struggling to teach your Kaikadi to sit? The talent of sitting up is quite easily taught to pocket-sized dogs, yet much bigger canines are a different story. It’s difficult for them to maintain their balance.

Teach Your Kaikadi to Sit: Prep

Sitting is one of the 1st techniques that should be taught to a Kaikadi and is the ground work for various other techniques. To train a Kaikadi to sit up, organize some treats as a perk, and put your Kaikadi on her butt in a corner, to ensure that she is not able to fall either aft or sideways and has very little or no room to lose balance.

Teach Your Kaikadi to Sit: Familiarize Her With The Phrase

Protect her from pitching to the front by keeping 1 hand underneath her chin and using the second hand dangle her reward above your Kaikadi’s nose. Keep saying deliberately and distinctly, “sit.” Do not make her sit for too long at any one time, but repeat the lesson often and reward her frequently with loads of praise and snacks.

Teach Your Kaikadi to Sit: Help Her Stay Balanced

In her very first lesson your Kaikadi will call for considerable assistance from your hand to stop her from falling forward, but as she gets control of her balancing muscles and makes sense of what you want her to do, she’ll count less upon your hand to hold her in position. Then you can gradually give your Kaikadi less help until you’ll just have to maintain one hand in position 2 or 3 inches from her chin or neck, to be ready to stop her from falling forward; later on you can most likely withdraw the hand entirely and just suspend the snack just above the level of her head.

Teach Your Kaikadi To Sit: Remove the Help Slowly

After constant training she will sit up long after you make her. The next step is she should be set up against your wall, so as to give her support for her back only. Only after she has taken in this and can maintain her place easily, practice with her using chair legs, cushions or other things that give her less and less help. Sooner or later she will grasp how to maintain her stability and sit up without anything to rest against.

Teach Your Kaikadi to Sit: Putting It All Together

During the course of all these lessons the command "sit up" will have been instilled upon her psyche by constant repetition. Lastly is the final lesson to teach your Kaikadi to sit up as soon as she hears the words. Most likely, if she has been diligently trained, you will just have to call her out in the room, show a reward, hold it up a suitable distance from the ground, say "sit up" and she'll do so. Then give her the snack while still in place.

The only criteria for perfection is to practice with your Kaikadi several times daily until she sits up when told and without being shown a reward; give her the treats only once she has followed the direction.

Teach Your Kaikadi Other Tricks

You have now the technique for teaching your Kaikadi many other skills. She now can learn to beg by waving your hand up and down in front of her paws, which she'll move in sync with yours. She also can be taught to salute by bringing one paw up to the side of her head, or to hold a wooden pipe in her mouth, or to wear a cap on her head or wear other clothes.

While teaching a Kaikadi to submit to being dressed up, do not try to make her wear too many items simultaneously. Try at first with just a hat. Only after she gets adjusted to that you could put on a jacket and over time introduce her to more garments.

Enjoy "teaching your Kaikadi the sit up trick" and most importantly have fun while you're doing it!
