Teach Your Ibizan Hound to Sit: Planning

Sitting is one of the 1st tricks that you should teach to your Ibizan Hound and forms the foundation for a lot of other skills. To train a Ibizan Hound to sit up, prep some snacks as a perk, and set the Ibizan Hound on her rump in a corner, to make sure that she won’t fall either backward or sideways and has very little or no space to lose balance.

Teach Your Ibizan Hound to Sit: Familiarize Her With The Sound of The Words

Stop her from tilting to the front by keeping 1 hand under her chin and using your other hand hold her reward above the Ibizan Hound’s nose. Keep saying distinctly and deliberately, “sit up.” Do not force her to sit too long at one time, however repeat the instruction routinely and reward her often with a lot of praise and treats.

You have now the fundamentals for teaching your Ibizan Hound many other tricks. She now can be taught how to beg by waving your hand up and down just in front of her paws, which she'll move in rhythm with yours. She can also be taught to salute by bringing one paw up to the side of her head, or to hold a toy in her mouth, or to wear a hat on her head or wear other clothes.

While instructing a Ibizan Hound to accept being clothed, do not try to get her to wear too many things simultaneously. Try her at first with just a hat. Only after she becomes familiar with that you can put on a coat and slowly and gradually introduce her to more clothes.
