Are you trying to teach your Cursinu to sit? The talent of sitting up is quickly taught to pocket-sized dogs, however bigger canines are a different story. It’s difficult for them to maintain their balance.
Teach Your Cursinu to Sit: Preparing
Sitting up is one of the 1st skills that you should teach to your Cursinu and forms the foundation for a number of other techniques. In order to train a Cursinu to sit up, organize some snacks as a perk, and put your Cursinu on her haunches in a corner, to ensure she is not able to fall either backward or sideways and has very little or no room to stumble.
Teach Your Cursinu to Sit: Familiarize Her With The Words
Protect her from pitching forward by securing one hand on her chin and using your other hand dangle the reward above her nose. Keep saying clearly and deliberately, “sit.” Don’t make her sit up too long at one time, however repeat the training often and reward her regularly with a lot of recognition and treats.
Teach Your Cursinu to Sit: Help Her Balance
Throughout the 1st lesson your Cursinu will demand significant help and support from your hand to keep her from falling forward, but as she gains control of the balancing muscles and knows what you want, she will depend less upon your hand to keep her steady. Then you can gradually give her less help till you will only have to keep one hand in position two or three inches from her neck or chin, to be waiting to prevent her from falling forward; later you may withdraw your hand and just hold the snack right above the level of her face.
Teach Your Cursinu To Sit: Remove the Aids Over Time
With regular training she will sit up well after you command her. The next step is she should be set up against the wall, so as to offer her a support for her back. Once she has figured out this and can keep her position easily, practice with her up against chair legs, pillows or other things that provide her less and less help. Gradually she will be trained to sustain her stability and sit without needing something to rest on.
Teach Your Cursinu to Sit: Putting It All Together
During all these lessons the phrase "sit up" will have been ingrained upon her psyche with the assistance of frequent repetition. Lastly is the final training to teach your Cursinu to sit up as quickly as she hears the command. Chances are, if she has been carefully instructed, you will simply have to summon her out into the room, display a snack, hold it up a suitable distance from the ground, say "sit up or sit" and she will obey. Then just give her the snack while still in position.
The only condition for excellence is to rehearse with her multiple times a day until she sits up on command and without being shown a reward; give her the rewards only after she has followed the order.
Teach Your Cursinu Other Tricks
You have now the foundation for teaching your Cursinu many other skills. She can now learn how to beg by moving your hand up and down just in front of her paws, which she'll move in rhythm with yours. She also can learn to salute by bringing one paw to the side of her head, or to keep something in her mouth, or to wear a cap on her head or wear other articles of clothing.
In training a Cursinu to tolerate being clothed, don't try to get her to wear too many items simultaneously. Try at first with a hat. Soon after she becomes used to that you can put on a coat and little by little introduce her to the other clothes.
