Teaching the Serbian Tricolour Hound To Jump for Agility

Teach Your Serbian Tricolour Hound to Jump for AgilityThis article is about how to teach a Serbian Tricolour Hound jumping for agility. Often we are asked, “What number of jumps is best to start with?” You can never have enough solo jumps to learn agility. A good starting place is four jumps. This is the fewest count of jumps suggested.

Teaching the Serbian Tricolour Hound to jump: Begin with 4

You can teach the Serbian Tricolour Hound a variety of exercises, drills, and skills with 4 jumps. Four jumps will allow you to work on a short jump chute or jump grid. You can position a “box” with your jumps and work on 270 degree jumps, collection, and handling. You can teach your Serbian Tricolour Hound jumping right and left. You can be out of the box and send your Serbian Tricolour Hound or you can handle from within the box. Your jumps can be positioned in a horizontal line, so that you could practice serpentines and threadles.

Teach the Serbian Tricolour Hound 8 Jumps

Go to the next logical step and work on 8 jumps. Now you can position 2 boxes with 1 introductory jump. Now you’ve increased the number of routines that you can practice with your Serbian Tricolour Hound. Your jump grids can be of recommended size and number of jumps. You could also position the jumps in a circle with the jump bars normal to the circle or on the perimeter of the circle. This pattern also allows you to train a variety of drills.

Teaching a Serbian Tricolour Hound Double and Triple Jumps

The next consideration is a double jump and a triple jump. You could chain two or three single jumps together to make your expanded jump, but having double and triple jumps in your course work is extremely helpful to practice. We’ve seen many Serbian Tricolour Hounds run a perfect course and the last obstacle is a triple and the Serbian Tricolour Hound is not ready to do it, and bang, down comes the bar.
