Teach a Braque Du Bourbonnais Jumping for Agility

Teach Your Braque Du Bourbonnais to Jump for AgilityThis blog is about how to teach a Braque Du Bourbonnais jumping for agility. We are often asked, “What number of jumps should I begin with?” You can never have too many single jumps to learn agility. One good starting place is four jumps. This is the least count of jumps that we suggest.

How to Teach a Braque Du Bourbonnais jumping: Begin with Four

You can teach the Braque Du Bourbonnais many drills, skills, and exercises with four jumps. 4 jumps will allow you to develop on a short jump chute or jump grid. You can position a “box” with your jumps and work on handling, collection, and 270 degree jumps. You can teach your Braque Du Bourbonnais jumping left and right. You can be out of the box and send your Braque Du Bourbonnais or you can handle from the inside of the box. Your jumps could be staged in a lateral row, so you can practice threadles and serpentines.

Teach Your Braque Du Bourbonnais Eight Jumps

Go to the next step and practice 8 jumps. Now you can setup two boxes with one introductory jump. Now you’ve multiplied your drills that you can try with your Braque Du Bourbonnais. Your jump grids can be of recommended size and number of jumps. You could even setup your jumps in a circle with the jump bars normal to the circle or on the perimeter of the circle. This setup also enables you to develop a variety of drills.

Teaching a Braque Du Bourbonnais Double and Triple Jumps

The next consideration is a double jump and a triple jump. You can set two or 3 single jumps together to make your expanded jump, but having double and triple jumps in your course work is extremely beneficial to work on. We’ve seen several Braque Du Bourbonnaiss run a perfect course and the last obstacle is a triple and the Braque Du Bourbonnais is not prepared to do it, and bang, down goes the bar.
