Is The Pekingese Puppy Right For Your Family?

Should you get a Pekingese puppy?Eventually, every parent is going to hear: “Mommy, can we get that Pekingese puppy?”

Rather than ignore the question, parents should consider whether or not the clan is prepared for a puppy, especially a Pekingese, says Sharon Bergen, SVP of education and training for Knowledge Learning Corporation, the country’s foremost provider of early childhood education.

While considering “should the family get the Pekingese” Bergen recommends the parents evaluate the plusses and minuses of adding the Pekingese to the household before giving in to a kid’s request. “The Pekingese can teach kids about responsibility and become a great addition to a family-or it can be a mistake,” she has said. Bergen advises parents think about the following before deciding:

Things to Ask Before Deciding Should You Get The Pekingese Puppy

Who will be the one to care for the Pekingese? Parents and kids must agree in advance who is to be the one responsible for bathing, feeding, walking and cleaning up behind the Pekingese.

Is there an area for the Pekingese, and does your landlord allow dogs? Folks who live in apartments or townhouses may be better suited to a fish, a cat, or bird, instead of the Pekingese. Check your local library or Internet to find out more about Pekingeses to learn if another animal may be more suitable for your family.

Raising the Pekingese is a big committment and may be expensive. Your family has to realize that they will have to give up current activities to properly care for the Pekingese. If the prospect turns out to be too daunting, parents might want to suggest postponing until the child is committed enough to help raise the Pekingese.

Conclusion: Should You Get A Pekingese

Bergen recommends the whole household meet the Pekingese before agreeing to take it home. Getting the Pekingese is a long-term commitment, so think carefully before getting one.
