Do you have room for the Dalmatian, or does your landlord allow dogs? Folks who live in townhouses or apartments may be better suited to a bird, a fish, or cat, instead of the Dalmatian. Check the library or Internet to find out more about Dalmatians to decide if another animal may be more suitable for your family.
Raising the Dalmatian is a big committment and not cheap. The family should realize that they will be expected to give up current activities to properly care for the Dalmatian. If the requirement turns out to be too much of a committment, you should consider delaying until the child is old enough to help raise the Dalmatian.
