Teach Your Toy Bulldog to Sit: Acquaint Her With The Words

Prevent her from tilting towards you by sticking your hand underneath her chin and using your other hand hold the reward above the Toy Bulldog’s nose. Keep saying distinctly and intelligibly, “sit.” Don’t make her sit for too long at any one time, but repeat the lesson frequently and reward her frequently with loads of praise and treats.

Teach Your Toy Bulldog to Sit: Help Her Maintain Balance

In the very first lesson she will call for considerable help and support from your hand to stop her from falling forward, but as she gets more control of the stabilizing muscles and comprehends what you want her to do, she’ll count less and less upon your hand to hold her in position. Gradually, you can give her less help up until you will basically have to maintain one hand in position two or three inches from her chin or neck, to be in place to prevent her falling forward; later you can easily remove this hand and merely hold the treat just over the level of her head.

Teach Your Toy Bulldog To Sit: Remove the Help Progressively

With constant training she will sit up for a long time after you make her. The next step is she should be set against a wall, so as to offer her a support for her back only. Only after she has gotten the knack of this and can maintain her posture effortlessly, rehearse with her against chair legs, pillows or other objects that give her less and less aid. In the end she will learn how to preserve her equilibrium and sit up without anything to rest on.
