Then just give her the snack while still in place.

The only criteria for excellence is to practice with her multiple times daily until she can sit when commanded to and without being shown a snack; give her the rewards only after she has adhered to the direction.

You have now the basis for teaching your English Springer Spaniel many other skills. She now can be taught to beg by moving your hand up and down in front of her paws, which she will move in sync with yours. She can also learn to salute by bringing one paw to the side of her head, or to keep something in her mouth, or to wear a cap on her head or wear other clothing.

While instructing a English Springer Spaniel to submit to being clothed, do not try to get her to wear too many clothes at one time. Try at first with just a hat. Soon after she gets used to that you could put on a coat and little by little introduce her to more clothes.
