Keep saying distinctly and deliberately, “sit.” Do not force her to sit too long at any one time, however repeat the lesson frequently and reward her frequently with a lot of cheers and snacks.

Teach Your Moscow Watchdog to Sit: Help Her Stay Balanced

During her beginner lesson she will require quite a bit of help and support from your hand to prevent her from tumbling forward, but as she gets more control of the stabilizing muscles and understands what you want, she will depend less and less on your hand to hold her steady. Gradually, you can give your Moscow Watchdog less assistance til you will only have to maintain one hand in position 2 or 3 inches from her neck or chin, to be waiting to stop her from falling forward; later on you can probably withdraw the hand entirely and just simply hold the reward just over the level of your Moscow Watchdog’s face.

Teach Your Moscow Watchdog To Sit: Remove the Help Over Time

With constant training your Moscow Watchdog will sit up for a long time after you get her to sit. Afterward she should be set up against a wall, so as to provide her assistance for her back only. After she has taken in this and can hold her posture easily, practice with her against chair legs, cushions or other objects that provide her less and less support. Ultimately she will get the hang of how to keep her stability and sit up without anything to rest against.

Throughout all this training the command "sit up" will have been impressed upon her subconscious with the assistance of constant repetition. Lastly here's the final lesson to teach your Moscow Watchdog to sit up right after she hears the phrase. It's highly likely, if she has been diligently taught, you will only have to summon her out into the room, reveal a treat, hold it up a reasonable distance from the floor, say "sit up or sit" and she will do so. Then you'll just give her the treat while still in place.

The only condition for excellence is to rehearse with her multiple times daily until she will sit on command and without being shown a treat; give her the snacks only once she has complied with the command.

Teach Your Moscow Watchdog Other Tricks

You have now the method for teaching your Moscow Watchdog many other skills. She can now be taught how to beg by waving your hand up and down in front of her paws, which she will move in coordination with yours. She also can be taught to salute by moving one paw up to the side of her head, or to keep a toy in her mouth, or to wear a hat on her head or wear other clothes.

When teaching a Moscow Watchdog to submit to being clothed, don't try to make her wear too many things at the same time. Try at first with just a hat. Soon after she becomes adjusted to that you could put on a jacket and gradually introduce her to more clothing.
