Are you struggling to teach your Bully Kutta to sit? The technique of sitting up is quite easily taught to pocket-sized dogs, however larger canines are another story. It is tricky for them to keep their equilibrium.
Teach Your Bully Kutta to Sit: Anticipation
Sitting up is one of the first skills that should be taught to a Bully Kutta and forms the foundation for a lot of other skills. In order to train a Bully Kutta to sit up, organize some treats as a perk, and set the Bully Kutta on her butt in the corner, to make sure that she will not fall either backward or sideways and has very little or no room to stumble.
Teach Your Bully Kutta to Sit: Acquaint Her With The Sound of The Words
Protect her from tilting towards you by holding your hand underneath her chin and using your second hand dangle her reward above her nose. Keep repeating intelligibly and clearly, “sit up.” Don’t force her to sit too long at one time, but do repeat the training often and reward her often with plenty of praise and treats.
Teach Your Bully Kutta to Sit: Help Her Balance
During her 1st lesson your Bully Kutta will demand a surprising amount of support from your hand to keep her from tumbling forward, but as she gains better control of her muscles and comprehends what you want, she will rely less and less upon your hand to hold her in position. Then you can gradually give your Bully Kutta less help and support till you will basically have to maintain one hand in position 2 or 3 inches from her neck or chin, to be prepared to stop her falling forward; later on you can remove your hand altogether and simply suspend the reward right above the height of her face.
Teach Your Bully Kutta To Sit: Remove the Aids Over Time
With regular practice your Bully Kutta will stay seated for a good while after you make her. Afterward she should be set against the wall, so as to give her support for her back. Once she has gotten the hang of this and can hold her place effortlessly, practice with her up against chair legs, cushions or other things that provide her less and less help. In time she will master how to preserve her equilibrium and sit up without needing anything to rest on.
Teach Your Bully Kutta to Sit: Putting It All Together
Throughout all these lessons the command "sit up" will have been ingrained upon her mind by frequent repetition. Last comes the final training to teach your Bully Kutta to sit up as quickly as she hears the phrase. Chances are, if she has been properly instructed, you will just have to call her out in the room, display a reward, hold it up a reasonable distance from the ground, say "sit up" and she'll obey. Then just give her the reward while still in place.
The only prerequisite for excellence is to train with her several times daily until she can sit up when told and without being shown a treat; give her the treats only once she has followed the command.
Teach Your Bully Kutta Other Tricks
You have now the basis for teaching your Bully Kutta many other skills. She can now learn to beg by waving your hand up and down in front of her paws, which she'll move in coordination with yours. She can also learn to salute by moving one paw to the side of her head, or to hold something in her mouth, or to wear a hat on her head or wear other clothing.
While instructing a Bully Kutta to accept being clothed, do not try to get her to wear too many clothes simultaneously. Try her at first with just a cap. Only after she becomes familiar with that you could put on a coat and little by little introduce her to more clothes.
