Training must be a pleasant and enjoyable experience for both you and the Komondor. If you’re not in the best mindset for training, don’t even think of starting. Always treat the Komondor for heeding your orders to the letter! A reward is anything that your Komondor desires and is willing to earn. Snacks are the usual reward but different rewards could be verbal commendation and toys. Several brief sessions are much more effective than a single long one. Training must not involve any degrading components or punishment. There should be no yelling, no smacking or hitting, no chain jerking on training leashes or collars, and absolutely no electricity! Each training session is to be enjoyed and reinforcing with praise for each job well done.

Training Komondors with head collars

Dragging the leash is one of the few displeasing tasks of bringing up a new Komondor puppy. Utilizing a head collar for Komondor training has become very popular in the last decade. Training with a head collar does have some unique advantages over the regular training collar. Though it’s very simple to use, it is important that head collars are fitted properly and your Komondor properly introduced to the collar. Head collars are generally more easy to use than a standard training collar. Head collars are very effective when guiding Komondors in difficult situations.
