All of us long for training the perfect Irish Setter, a pup that is a CGC or canine good citizen and is well behaved and trustworthy at all times. - Until your pup is trained, you want to keep an eye on her at all times. Once you are unable to then you must definitely crate her. Irish Setters do not recollect what transpired previously so reprimanding him after an occurrence is useless.
- At all times call/use his name positively. Do not ever say “Bad TOM,” or “No Tom,” this will induce mental confusion and the Irish Setter will believe that if you call his name then it is for something negative. The doggie should affiliate his name with happy things like hugs, petting, walks, treats, and such. If this occurs he will come willingly whenever you call his name.
- Develop a teaching routine that is short and sweet, about 10 minutes thrice a day. Long recurring lessons can be boring and the Irish Setter is going to lose interest in the learning session. Make learning entertaining and use trick training sessions to demonstrate commands like sit, down, come and so on.
- Bond with the Irish Setter and both of you are going to have fun with your sessions. The pup should expect spending quality time with you and not avoid you by running away or hiding. Make sure to socialize the puppy as soon as possible. Socialization is one of the most vital lessons. The Irish Setter should learn to exist with various other animals, people, sounds, vehicles, and other activities. And so, slowly introduce the dog when he is little to normal tasks and noises. Take him to the market/ dog park, present him to kids and other animals, and make him unafraid of the vacuum cleaner and water hose.
