To teach your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer tricks, even the easy ones, you need to provide some yummy treats, teach him in an obscure suitable location and maintain the learning sessions to under fifteen minutes or the Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer will begin to get tired. Keep in mind when he gets something correct give him lots of praise and a reward snack, just beware not to get him extra thrilled or he may possibly lose focus.
Teach your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer to offer you his paw
To train your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer to give you his paw, first get him to sit, then as you state the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and give him a snack. Next do it again, and after a couple of practices don’t take his paw so quickly. State the word ‘paw’, count to one and then after that take it. You should observe that he is bringing his paw upward as you say the word. If he doesn’t then go back to saying it at the same time. Do it a couple more times then slow your response again. After 2 or 3 sessions most Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointers pick this trick up quite easily.
Teach your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer to give you a high 5
Like a lot of tricks the high 5 is a continuation of a simpler trick, in this case it’s the paw trick. Place a snack in between your fingers and raise your hand just a bit higher than you would raise it for the paw trick. Your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer will assume you want to do the paw trick and will reach for the snack with his paw as we had instructed him in the prior trick. As he rises you state “high five” and offer your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer the treat. As soon as your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer has mastered the paw trick this 1 should be very easy to understand and with only a few sessions he will be doing it from your hand signal instead of vocal commands.
Teach your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer to jump through a hoop
Before you start this one I would just like to ask you to be a little practical and not hold the hoop too high up as you do not really want your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer to harm himself while carrying out the trick. Place your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer to 1 side of a hula hoop, get him to take note of your hand on the other side of the hoop. Place a snack in your hand and offer the Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer the direction to stop sitting. At first he might attempt to walk around or below the hula hoop. If this takes place begin again. Your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer wants the treat and will soon learn that walking around or below does not work so he will quickly begin going through it. As soon as he does, say “hoop” and offer him the treat. He will quickly be leaping through the hoop on the command of “hoop”. When I first began doing this trick I had a medium sized dog, so I began with the hoop six inches from the ground and gradually increased it to waist high. In case you possess a smaller dog you may wish to start with the hoop on the floor so he simply goes through the hoop and then gradually raise it as he gets accustomed to the trick.
I really hope you have enjoyed learning these 3 tricks you can teach your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer. Have patience with your Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer and most importantly, have a good time!
