To teach your Sakhalin Husky tricks, even easy ones, you need to carry some of his favorite snacks, go to a secluded suitable place and always keep the coaching sessions to under fifteen minutes or your Sakhalin Husky will start to get bored. Keep in mind when he gets something right give him lots of appreciation and a reward treat, though beware not to get him overly ecstatic or he might lose focus.
Teach your Sakhalin Husky to offer you his paw
To get your Sakhalin Husky to offer you his paw, initially get him to sit, then as you say the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and offer him a snack. After that do this again, and after a few times do not take his paw so quickly. Say the word ‘paw’, count to 1 and then after that take it. You should notice that he is bringing his paw upward as you say the word. If he does not then return to saying it at the exact same time. Do it a few more times then slow your reaction once again. After just a few sessions most Sakhalin Huskys pick this trick up rather easily.
Teach your Sakhalin Husky to offer you a high 5
Like a great deal of tricks the high 5 is a progression of a simpler trick, and in this case it’s the paw trick. Place a treat in between your two fingers and lift your hand a bit higher than you’d do for the paw trick. Your Sakhalin Husky will think you wish to do the paw trick and will grab the snack with his paw as we taught him in the prior trick. As he reaches up you state “high five” and give your Sakhalin Husky the treat. As soon as your Sakhalin Husky has mastered the paw trick this 1 will probably be really easy to understand and with only a few sessions he will be accomplishing it on hand signal instead of voice control.
Teach your Sakhalin Husky to leap through a hoop
Before you start this one I would just like to ask you to be a little reasonable and not suspend the hoop higher than necessary as you do not want your Sakhalin Husky to hurt himself while doing the trick. Set your Sakhalin Husky to 1 side of a hula hoop, get him to take notice of your hand on the other side of the hoop. Hold a snack in your hand and give the Sakhalin Husky the direction to stop sitting. In the beginning he may try to walk around or beneath the hula hoop. If this occurs begin again. Your Sakhalin Husky desires the snack and will soon learn that going around or under doesn’t get it so he will quickly start going through it. Whenever he does, say “hoop” and give him the treat. He’ll soon be jumping through the hoop upon the command of “hoop”. When I began teaching this trick I owned a medium sized dog, so I started with the hoop six inches from the ground and slowly increased it to waist high. In case you own a smaller dog you may wish to start with the hoop on the floor so he just goes through the hoop and then gradually raise it once he gets used to the trick.
