To teach your Rastreador Brasileiro tricks, even easy ones, you should have some savory treats, go to a remote suitable location and manage to keep the teaching sessions to 10 – 15 minutes or your Rastreador Brasileiro will begin to get bored. Always remember when he gets something correct give him great deals of appreciation and a reward treat, however be mindful not to get him excessively fired up or he may well lose focus.
Teach your Rastreador Brasileiro to give you his paw
To get your Rastreador Brasileiro to offer you his paw, initially get him to sit, then as you say the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and give him a snack. Your Rastreador Brasileiro wants the treat and will quickly learn that walking around or below does not get it done so he will quickly start going through it. Whenever he does, say “hoop” and give him the snack. He’ll soon be jumping through the hoop upon the command of “hoop”. When I began teaching this trick I had a medium sized dog, so I began with the hoop 6 inches from the floor and slowly increased it to waist high. In the case that you own a smaller sized dog you might wish to start with the hoop touching the ground so he just goes through the hoop and then slowly lift it once he gets used to the trick.
