To teach your Mioritic tricks, even the simple ones, you should provide some of his favorite treats, teach him in a quiet suitable place and manage to keep the training sessions to 10 – 15 minutes or your Mioritic will begin to get bored. Keep in mind when he gets something correct give him lots of praise and a reward treat, however beware not to get him too thrilled or he may perhaps lose focus.
Teach your Mioritic to offer you his paw
To train your Mioritic to give you his paw, initially get him to sit, then as you state the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and give him a treat. After that repeat this, and after a couple of successful tries do not take his paw so quickly. Say the word ‘paw’, count to one and after that take it. You ought to see that he is bringing his paw upward as you state the word. If he does not then return to stating it at the exact same time. Do it a couple more times then slow your response once again. After 2 or 3 sessions most Mioritics pick this trick up quite easily.
Teach your Mioritic to offer you a high 5
Like a great deal of tricks the high five is a progression of a more basic trick, and in this case the paw trick. Place a treat in between your two fingers and lift your hand a bit higher than you would raise it for the paw trick. Your Mioritic will believe you wish to perform the paw trick and will reach for the snack with his paw as we instructed him earlier. Once he reaches up you say “high five” and offer your Mioritic the snack. When your Mioritic has mastered the paw trick this 1 should be very easy to learn and with only a few sessions he will be accomplishing it on hand signal instead of from your voice.
Teach your Mioritic to leap through a hoop
Before you begin this 1 I would just like to ask you to be a little practical and not hold the hoop higher than necessary as you do not want your Mioritic to hurt himself while carrying out the trick. Set your Mioritic to one side of a hula hoop, get him to pay attention to your hand on the other side of the hoop. Hold a treat in your hand and offer the Mioritic the direction to stop sitting. Initially he may attempt to go around or under the hoop. If this happens begin again. Your Mioritic desires the treat and will soon learn that walking around or beneath does not get it so he’ll quickly begin going through it. Once he does, say “hoop” and give him the snack. He’ll quickly be jumping through the hoop upon the command of “hoop”. When I first started teaching this trick I had a medium sized dog, so I began with the hoop 6 inches from the ground and slowly lifted it to waist high. In the event that you have a smaller dog you may desire to start with the hoop touching the floor so he just goes through the hoop and then gradually elevate it as he gets used to the trick.
I know you have enjoyed learning these 3 tricks you can teach your Mioritic. Have patience with your Mioritic and most importantly, have a good time!
