To teach your Jamthund tricks, even easy ones, you should provide some of his favorite snacks, teach him in a quiet suitable location and maintain the learning sessions to ten to fifteen minutes or the Jamthund will begin to get bored. Just remember when he gets something correct give him great deals of praise and a reward snack, just take care not to get him over ecstatic or he might just lose focus.
Teach your Jamthund to offer you his paw
To get your Jamthund to offer you his paw, first get him to sit, then as you state the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and give him a treat. After that repeat this, and after a couple of successful tries do not take his paw so quickly. State the word ‘paw’, count to one and then take it. You must see that he is bringing his paw up as you state the word. If he does not then go back to stating it at the very same time. Do it a couple of more times then slow your reaction again. After a few sessions most Jamthunds pick this trick up quite easily.
Teach your Jamthund to give you a high 5
Like a lot of tricks the high five is a progression of an earlier trick, and in this case the paw trick. Hold a snack in between your two fingers and raise your hand just a bit higher than you would raise it for the paw trick. Your Jamthund will think you wish to perform the paw trick and will grab for the treat with his paw as we instructed him previously. As he rises you state “high five” and give your Jamthund the treat. Once your Jamthund has mastered the paw trick this 1 will most likely be very easy to understand and with only a couple of sessions he will be accomplishing it on hand signal rather than vocal commands.
Teach your Jamthund to jump through a hoop
Before you start this 1 I would just like to ask you to be a little reasonable and not hold the hoop higher than necessary as you do not want your Jamthund to hurt himself while practicing the trick. Place your Jamthund to one side of a hula hoop, get him to take notice of your hand on the other side of the hoop. Hold a treat in your hand and give the Jamthund the command to stop sitting. At first he might try to go around or beneath the hoop. In the event that this takes place start again. Your Jamthund desires the snack and will soon find out that going around or beneath does not get it done so he’ll quickly start going through it. The moment he does, state “hoop” and give him the treat. He’ll soon be jumping through the hoop upon the command of “hoop”. When I started off teaching this trick I had a medium sized dog, so I started with the hoop 6 inches from the ground and slowly lifted it to waist high. On the occasion that you possess a smaller dog you may desire to start with the hoop touching the floor so he simply goes through the hoop and after that slowly lift it more once he gets used to the trick.
I really hope you have enjoyed these 3 tricks you can teach your Jamthund. Have patience with your Jamthund and most of all, have a good time!
