To teach your Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore tricks, even the easy ones, you need to get hold of some delicious snacks, take him to a quiet suitable place and hold the instruction sessions to ten to fifteen minutes or your Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore will begin to get tired. Always remember when he gets something correct offer him great deals of appreciation and a reward treat, but take care not to get him too fired up or he might lose focus.
Teach your Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore to give you his paw
To get your Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore to give you his paw, initially get him to sit, then as you say the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and offer him a treat. After that repeat this, and after a couple of practices don’t take his paw so fast. State the word ‘paw’, count to 1 and then take it. You should notice that he is bringing his paw up as you say the word. If he does not then go back to saying it at the same time. Do it a couple of more times then slow your reaction once again. After 2 or 3 sessions most Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolores pick this trick up quite quickly.
Teach your Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore to give you a high 5
Like a great deal of tricks the high five is a continuation of a simpler trick, and in this case the paw trick. Hold a snack in between your fingers and lift your hand somewhat higher than you would for the paw trick. Your Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore will believe you want to do the paw trick and will grab the treat with his paw as we instructed him earlier. While he rises you state “high 5” and give your Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore the snack. When your Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore has mastered the paw trick this one should be very easy to master and with only a few sessions he will be performing it from your hand signal instead of voice control.
Teach your Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore to leap through a hoop
Before you begin this one I would simply like to ask you to be a little reasonable and not hold the hoop too high as you do not want your Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore to injure himself while practicing the trick. Place your Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore on one side of a hula hoop, get him to take note of your hand on the opposite side of the hoop. Place a treat in your hand and give the Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore the command to stop sitting. Initially he might try to walk around or beneath the hula hoop. When this occurs start again. Your Grand Anglo-Francais Tricolore wants the treat and will soon discover that walking around or beneath does not get it so he’ll soon start going through it. Once he does, state “hoop” and offer him the treat. He will soon be jumping through the hoop on the command of “hoop”. When I began teaching this trick I owned a medium sized dog, so I began with the hoop 6 inches from the floor and gradually brought it to waist height. In the event that you have a smaller dog you may desire to begin with the hoop on the ground so he simply goes through the hoop and then slowly elevate it more once he gets used to the trick.
