To teach your Eurasier tricks, even the easy ones, you need to always have some of his favorite snacks, be in a quiet suitable place and try to keep the instruction sessions to under 15 minutes or your Eurasier will start to get bored. Bear in mind when he gets something correct give him great deals of appreciation and a reward treat, just be mindful not to get him too excited or he may well lose concentration.
Teach your Eurasier to offer you his paw
To train your Eurasier to offer you his paw, initially get him to sit, then as you state the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and offer him a snack. After that repeat this, and after a few tries do not take his paw so fast. Say the word ‘paw’, count to one and after that take it. You must discover that he is bringing his paw upward as you say the word. If he doesn’t then go back to stating it at the exact same time. Do it a few more times then slow your reaction once again. After two or three sessions most Eurasiers pick this trick up quite easily.
Teach your Eurasier to offer you a high five
Like a lot of tricks the high 5 is a progression of a basic trick, and in this case it’s the paw trick. Place a snack in your fingers and lift your hand a bit higher than you’d do for the paw trick. Your Eurasier will assume you want to perform the paw trick and will grab for the snack with his paw as we had trained him in the previous trick. Once he reaches up you state “high 5” and offer him the treat. Once your Eurasier has actually mastered the paw trick this one will likely be very easy to understand and with just a couple of sessions he will be performing it on hand signal instead of your voice.
Teach your Eurasier to jump through a hoop
Before you begin this one I would simply like to ask you to be a little sensible and not suspend the hoop too high up as you do not want your Eurasier to harm himself while performing the trick. Set your Eurasier on one side of a hula hoop, get him to pay attention to your hand on the opposite side of the hoop. Hold a snack in your hand and offer the Eurasier the command to stop sitting. Initially he might try to walk around or under the hoop. When this occurs begin once again. Your Eurasier desires the snack and will soon learn that walking around or under does not get it so he’ll quickly start going through it. The second he does, say “hoop” and offer him the treat. He’ll soon be leaping through the hoop on the command of “hoop”. When I initially started doing this trick I had a medium sized dog, so I started with the hoop six inches from the ground and slowly raised it to waist height. In case you possess a smaller sized dog you might wish to begin with the hoop touching the ground so he just goes through the hoop and then slowly elevate it as he gets accustomed to the trick.
I really hope you have enjoyed these 3 tricks you can teach your Eurasier. Have patience with your Eurasier and above all, have a good time!
