To teach your Bracco Italiano tricks, even the easy ones, you need to always have some of his favorite treats, be in a quiet suitable place and try to keep the instruction sessions to ten to fifteen minutes or your Bracco Italiano will begin to get bored. Just remember when he gets something right offer him lots of praise and a reward treat, just be cautious not to get him excessively thrilled or he will lose concentration.
Teach your Bracco Italiano to offer you his paw
To train your Bracco Italiano to offer you his paw, initially get him to sit, then as you say the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and give him a snack. Then do this again, and after a couple of successful tries don’t take his paw so fast. Say the word ‘paw’, count to 1 and only then take it. You ought to notice that he is bringing his paw up as you say the word. If he does not then go back to saying it at the exact same time. Do it a few more times then slow your response once again. After 2 or 3 sessions most Bracco Italianos pick this trick up rather quickly.
Teach your Bracco Italiano to give you a high 5
Like a great deal of tricks the high 5 is a continuation of an earlier trick, and in this case it’s the paw trick. Hold a treat in your fingers and lift your hand just a bit higher than you’d do for the paw trick. Your Bracco Italiano will expect you wish to do the paw trick and will grab the snack with his paw as we had taught him in the prior trick. Teach your Bracco Italiano to jump through a hoop
Before you begin this one I would simply like to ask you to be a little reasonable and not suspend the hoop too high up as you do not want your Bracco Italiano to hurt himself while carrying out the trick. Place your Bracco Italiano to one side of a hula hoop, get him to take note of your hand on the opposite side of the hoop. Place a treat in your hand and offer the Bracco Italiano the command to stop sitting. In the beginning he may try to walk around or underneath the hoop. When this takes place begin again. Your Bracco Italiano wants the treat and will quickly discover that walking around or below doesn’t get it done so he’ll soon start going through it. Once he does, state “hoop” and give him the snack. He will quickly be leaping through the hoop upon the command of “hoop”. When I started doing this trick I owned a medium sized dog, so I started with the hoop 6 inches from the ground and slowly brought it to waist height. In the event that you own a smaller sized dog you may wish to start with the hoop on the floor so he simply goes through the hoop and then slowly lift it once he gets used to the trick.
