Are you aiming to teach your Peruvian Hairless Dog to sit? The talent of sitting up is quickly taught to little dogs, though bigger doggies are a different story. It’s hard for them to keep their equilibrium.
Teach Your Peruvian Hairless Dog to Sit: Planning
Sitting up is one of the most basic skills that should be taught to a Peruvian Hairless Dog and lays the groundwork for myriad other skills. In order to train a Peruvian Hairless Dog to sit up, prep some snacks as a reward, and place the Peruvian Hairless Dog on her butt in the corner, to make sure that she can not fall either backward or sideways and has very little or no room to lose balance.

Keep her from tilting to the front by holding your hand on her chin and with the other hand hold her reward above the Peruvian Hairless Dog’s nose. Keep saying distinctly and deliberately, “sit.” Don’t make her sit for too long at any one time, but repeat the training regularly and reward her often with lots of praise and treats.
Teach Your Peruvian Hairless Dog to Sit: Help Her Maintain Balance
Throughout the 1st lesson your Peruvian Hairless Dog will call for quite a bit of assistance from your hand to stop her from tumbling forward, but as she gets more control of the balancing muscles and learns what you want, she’ll rely less and less upon your hand to keep her steady. Then you can gradually give her less assistance up until you will merely have to leave one hand in position 2 or 3 inches from her neck or chin, to be prepared to stop her falling forward; eventually you might withdraw your hand entirely and simply hold the snack just above the level of her head.
Teach Your Peruvian Hairless Dog To Sit: Remove the Help Incrementally
After frequent practice your Peruvian Hairless Dog will stay seated long after you get her to sit. Then she should be set against the wall, so as to provide her help for her back only. Once she has taken in this and can maintain her posture effortlessly, practice with her against chair legs, pillows or other things that give her less and less support. At some point she will figure out how to keep her stability and sit without relying on anything to lean against.
Teach Your Peruvian Hairless Dog to Sit: Putting It All Together
During all this training the command "sit up" will have been ingrained upon her subconscious with the assistance of persistent repetition. Now comes the final training to teach your Peruvian Hairless Dog to sit up immediately after she hears the phrase. It's highly likely, if she has been carefully instructed, you will just have to get her out in the room, show her a reward, hold it up a suitable distance from the ground, say "sit" and she'll obey. Then you'll just give her the reward while still in place.
The only criteria for flawlessness is to practice with your Peruvian Hairless Dog several times a day until she sits on command and without being shown a snack; give her the rewards only once she has adhered to the order.
