Are you struggling to teach your Cesky Terrier to sit? The skill of sitting up is easily taught to very small dogs, but much larger canines are a different story. It’s hard for them to maintain their equilibrium.
Teach Your Cesky Terrier to Sit: Prep work
Sitting up is one of the 1st techniques that should be taught to a Cesky Terrier and forms the ground work for quite a few other skills. In order to train a Cesky Terrier to sit up, put together some treats as a perk, and put your Cesky Terrier on her rump in the corner, to make sure that she is not able to fall either aft or sideways and has very little or no space to stumble.
Teach Your Cesky Terrier to Sit: Familiarize Her With The Words
Stop her from pitching towards you by sticking one hand under her chin and using the other hand dangle her snack above her face. Keep saying intelligibly and distinctly, “sit up.” Don’t make her sit too long at any one time, but do repeat the lesson often and reward her regularly with a lot of appreciation and snacks.
Teach Your Cesky Terrier to Sit: Help Her Stay Balanced
In the first lesson your Cesky Terrier will call for significant support from you to stop her from tumbling forward, but as she gains more control of her balancing muscles and starts to learn what you want her to do, she will rely less upon your hand to hold her in position. Then you can gradually give her less assistance up until you’ll simply have to leave one hand in position 2 or 3 inches from her chin or neck, to be prepared to stop her from falling forward; later on you can withdraw your hand entirely and simply dangle the snack right above the height of her head.
Teach Your Cesky Terrier To Sit: Remove the Aids Progressively
With consistent training your Cesky Terrier will sit up for a good while after you set her up. Afterward she should be set against your wall, so as to provide her help for her back. After she has figured out this and can maintain her posture effortlessly, rehearse with her up against chair legs, pillows or other things that offer her less and less support. In the end she will grasp how to sustain her balance and sit without relying on anything to lean against.
Teach Your Cesky Terrier to Sit: Putting It All Together
Throughout all this training the phrase "sit up" will have been ingrained upon her subconscious with the assistance of regular repetition. Last comes the final training to teach your Cesky Terrier to sit up immediately after she hears the phrase. Chances are, if she has been diligently instructed, you will merely have to summon her out in the room, show a treat, hold it up a suitable distance from the ground, say "sit up" and she'll do so. Then give her the reward while still in position.
The only prerequisite for flawlessness is to practice with her multiple times daily until she can sit up on command and without being shown a reward; give her the snacks only once she has adhered to the order.
Teach Your Cesky Terrier Other Tricks
You have now the foundation for teaching your Cesky Terrier many other tricks. She now can be taught how to beg by waving your hand up and down just in front of her paws, which she will move in sync with yours. She also can learn to salute by bringing one paw to the side of her head, or to keep a toy in her mouth, or to wear a cap on her head or wear other clothing.
In teaching a Cesky Terrier to tolerate being clothed, don't try to make her wear too many garments at one time. Try at first with just a hat. Soon after she becomes adjusted to that you could put on a jacket and slowly introduce her to more garments.
