To teach your Shiloh Shepherd Dog tricks, even the easy ones, you need to get hold of some yummy snacks, teach him in a quiet suitable place and manage to keep the teaching sessions to ten to fifteen minutes or your Shiloh Shepherd Dog will begin to get bored. Keep in mind when he gets something correct offer him lots of praise and a reward treat, just be cautious not to get him overly excited or he will lose focus.
Teach your Shiloh Shepherd Dog to offer you his paw
To teach your Shiloh Shepherd Dog to give you his paw, initially get him to sit, then as you say the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and give him a treat. Then do this again, and after a couple of tries do not take his paw so quickly. State the word ‘paw’, count to one and then after that take it. You should discover that he is bringing his paw upward as you say the word. If he does not then go back to stating it at the very same time. Do it a few more times then slow your reaction again. After 2 or 3 sessions most Shiloh Shepherd Dogs pick this trick up quite easily.
Teach your Shiloh Shepherd Dog to give you a high five
Like a great deal of tricks the high 5 is a continuation of a simpler trick, and in this case the paw trick. Place a snack in between your fingers and lift your hand just a bit higher than you would for the paw trick. Your Shiloh Shepherd Dog will expect you want to perform the paw trick and will grab the treat with his paw as we instructed him previously. Once he reaches up you state “high five” and offer your Shiloh Shepherd Dog the snack. As soon as your Shiloh Shepherd Dog has mastered the paw trick this one should be extremely easy to master and with just a few sessions he will be accomplishing it on hand signal instead of from your voice.
Teach your Shiloh Shepherd Dog to jump through a hoop
Before you begin this 1 I would simply like to ask you to be a little practical and not suspend the hoop too high up as you don’t want your Shiloh Shepherd Dog to hurt himself while practicing the trick. Place your Shiloh Shepherd Dog to one side of a hula hoop, get him to focus on your hand on the opposite side of the hoop. Place a snack in your hand and give the Shiloh Shepherd Dog the command to stop sitting. Initially he might try to go around or underneath the hoop. If this occurs start again. Your Shiloh Shepherd Dog wants the snack and will soon learn that going around or below does not get it done so he will quickly begin going through it. The moment he does, state “hoop” and give him the snack. He will quickly be leaping through the hoop upon the command of “hoop”. When I started doing this trick I owned a medium sized dog, so I started with the hoop six inches from the floor and gradually lifted it to waist high. In case you have a smaller dog you may desire to start with the hoop touching the floor so he simply goes through the hoop and then slowly raise it once he gets accustomed to the trick.
I really hope you have enjoyed these 3 tricks you can teach your Shiloh Shepherd Dog. Have patience with your Shiloh Shepherd Dog and most of all, have fun!
