To teach your Chilean Fox Terrier tricks, even easy ones, you should get hold of some small snacks, teach him in a quiet suitable location and try to keep the teaching sessions to ten to fifteen minutes or the Chilean Fox Terrier will begin to get tired. Bear in mind when he gets something right give him great deals of praise and a reward treat, just be mindful not to get him extra thrilled or he might lose concentration.
Teach your Chilean Fox Terrier to give you his paw
To get your Chilean Fox Terrier to offer you his paw, first get him to sit, then as you state the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and offer him a snack. Now do this again, and after a couple of times do not take his paw so quickly. Say the word ‘paw’, count to 1 and after that take it. You must discover that he is bringing his paw up as you state the word. If he does not then return to saying it at the same time. Do it a couple more times then slow your response once again. After two or three sessions most Chilean Fox Terriers pick this trick up rather easily.
Teach your Chilean Fox Terrier to give you a high 5
Like a lot of tricks the high five is a continuation of an easier trick, and in this case the paw trick. Place a treat in between your fingers and lift your hand a bit higher than you would raise it for the paw trick. Your Chilean Fox Terrier will presume you wish to do the paw trick and will grab for the treat with his paw as we had instructed him in the previous trick. While he reaches up you say “high five” and offer him the snack. As soon as your Chilean Fox Terrier has mastered the paw trick this 1 will probably be very easy to master and with only a few sessions he will be doing it from your hand signal rather than your voice.
Teach your Chilean Fox Terrier to leap through a hoop
Before you begin this 1 I would just like to ask you to be a little reasonable and not hold the hoop too high as you don’t really want your Chilean Fox Terrier to injure himself while doing the trick. Set your Chilean Fox Terrier on one side of a hula hoop, get him to take note of your hand on the other side of the hoop. Hold a treat in your hand and give the Chilean Fox Terrier the direction to stop sitting. At first he may attempt to walk around or below the hula hoop. When this occurs start again. Your Chilean Fox Terrier wants the treat and will quickly find out that going around or under does not work so he will soon begin going through it. The instant he does, state “hoop” and give him the treat. He’ll quickly be leaping through the hoop on the command of “hoop”. When I started teaching this trick I had a medium sized dog, so I started with the hoop 6 inches from the floor and slowly brought it to waist high. In the event that you have a smaller sized dog you may wish to start with the hoop on the floor so he simply goes through the hoop and after that slowly elevate it once he gets used to the trick.
I expect you have enjoyed learning these 3 tricks you can teach your Chilean Fox Terrier. Have patience with your Chilean Fox Terrier and above all, have a good time!
