To teach your Brazilian Terrier tricks, even easy ones, you should always have some good treats, go to a quiet suitable location and manage to keep the coaching sessions to under fifteen minutes or your Brazilian Terrier will start to get bored. Always remember when he gets something correct give him lots of praise and a reward treat, just beware not to get him excessively fired up or he will lose concentration.
Teach your Brazilian Terrier to give you his paw
To train your Brazilian Terrier to give you his paw, initially get him to sit, then as you state the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and offer him a treat. Next do it again, and after a couple of successful tries don’t take his paw so quickly. State the word ‘paw’, count to one and after that take it. You ought to discover that he is raising his paw upward as you state the word. If he does not then return to stating it at the exact same time. Do it a couple more times then slow your reaction again. After just a couple of sessions most Brazilian Terriers pick this trick up rather quickly.
Teach your Brazilian Terrier to give you a high 5
Like a lot of tricks the high 5 is a progression of an easier trick, and in this case it’s the paw trick. Place a treat in your two fingers and raise your hand a little bit higher than you would for the paw trick. Your Brazilian Terrier will expect you wish to do the paw trick and will reach for the snack with his paw as we trained him previously. As he reaches up you say “high five” and offer your Brazilian Terrier the snack. When your Brazilian Terrier has mastered the paw trick this one will most likely be really easy to learn and with just a couple of sessions he will be doing it on hand signal instead of vocal commands.
Teach your Brazilian Terrier to jump through a hoop
Before you start this 1 I would simply like to ask you to be a little practical and not hold the hoop too high as you don’t really want your Brazilian Terrier to hurt himself while practicing the trick. Place your Brazilian Terrier to one side of a hula hoop, get him to focus on your hand on the opposite side of the hoop. Hold a snack in your hand and offer the Brazilian Terrier the command to stop sitting. In the beginning he might attempt to walk around or beneath the hula hoop. If this occurs begin again. Your Brazilian Terrier desires the treat and will quickly learn that walking around or under does not work so he will quickly start going through it. Whenever he does, state “hoop” and give him the snack. He’ll soon be jumping through the hoop upon the command of “hoop”. When I first started teaching this trick I had a medium sized dog, so I began with the hoop six inches from the ground and slowly increased it to waist height. In case you own a smaller dog you may wish to begin with the hoop on the ground so he just goes through the hoop and then gradually lift it more once he gets accustomed to the trick.
I know you have enjoyed these 3 tricks you can teach your Brazilian Terrier. Have patience with your Brazilian Terrier and most of all, have a good time!
