All of us hope for training the perfect Swedish Lapphund, a pet that’s a CGC or canine good citizen and is well behaved and responsible at all times. - Until your pup learns, you must keep an eye on him at all times. Whenever you can not then you must crate her. Make a schedule for the pup, that will serve to help her to calm down quickly. The calendar needs to consist of things such as hourly bathroom breaks, eating times, relaxation periods, walks, play time, exercise, and so forth. A pup that has a very busy day has no time at all to be bored or get into mischief.
- Train the pup to value you. Swedish Lapphunds stay in packs and naturally follow a leader. If you establish your leadership in no uncertain terms then coaching will become easy as the pup will follow orders at all times and not test your power.
- Utilize exclusively positive training techniques. Never yell at, strike, or punish your Swedish Lapphund. It’s not just cruel but might bring on behavioral concerns. Use of electrical shocks, prong collars, sprays, and so forth could easily hurt the animal.

The dog needs to associate his name with happy times like hugs, petting, strolls, snacks, and such. If this happens he will come happily if you call his name.
- Develop a training schedule that is short and sweet, about 10 minutes 3 times a day. Prolonged repetitive sessions can be uninspiring and the Swedish Lapphund will lose interest in the learning session. Make learning entertaining and use trick training sessions to demonstrate directions like sit, down, come and more.
- Bond with the Swedish Lapphund and both of you are going to appreciate your sessions. The pup should expect hanging out with you and not avoid you by turning tail or hiding. Be sure to socialize the doggie very early. Socialization is among the most significant lessons. The Swedish Lapphund should master how to coexist with other animals, people, sounds, vehicles, and other activities. And so, slowly introduce the doggy when he is small to regular tasks and noises. Take him to the mall/ playground, present him to children and other animals, and make him unfrightened of the vacuum cleaner and water hose.
- Understand all about potty training, leash walking, house breaking, together with food training. These are remedial lessons that every Swedish Lapphund puppy must understand.
