This post is about teaching your Griffon Bleu De Gascogne jumping for agility. We are often asked, “What number of jumps should I begin with?” You can’t ever have too many single jumps to learn agility. A suitable starting point is 4 jumps. This is the least count of jumps suggested.
How to Teach the Griffon Bleu De Gascogne to jump: Begin with Four
You can teach your Griffon Bleu De Gascogne a plethora of drills, skills, and exercises with 4 jumps. Four jumps will allow you to work on a short jump chute or jump grid. You can practice on a “box” with your jumps and practice 270 degree jumps, collection, and handling. You can teach your Griffon Bleu De Gascogne jumping left and right. You can be outside the box and send your Griffon Bleu De Gascogne or you can handle from within the box. Your jumps can be setup in a lateral line, so you could practice threadles and serpentines.
Teach the Griffon Bleu De Gascogne 8 Jumps
Take the next logical step and develop 8 jumps. Now you can setup 2 boxes with one starter jump. Now you’ve multiplied the number of drills that you can work on with your Griffon Bleu De Gascogne. Your jump grids can be of recommended size and quantity of jumps. You could also setup the jumps in a circle with the jump bars perpendicular to the circle or on the circumference of the circle. This setup also enables you to work on a variety of skills.
Teaching the Griffon Bleu De Gascogne Double and Triple Jumps
The next level is a double jump and a triple jump. You could set 2 or three single jumps together to make your expanded jump, however having double and triple jumps in your course work is really helpful to work on. We’ve seen several Griffon Bleu De Gascognes run a clean course and the last obstacle is a triple and the Griffon Bleu De Gascogne is not prepared to do it, and bang, down comes the bar.
