This blog is about teaching your Cao De Castro Laboreiro to jump for agility. Often we are asked, “What number of jumps should I begin with?” You can never have enough solo jumps to learn agility. A good starting place is four jumps. This is the minimum quantity of jumps that we suggest.
How to Teach Your Cao De Castro Laboreiro jumping: Begin with Four
You can teach the Cao De Castro Laboreiro a plethora of drills, skills, and exercises with four jumps. 4 jumps will allow you to develop on a short jump chute or jump grid. You can setup a “box” with your jumps and work on 270 degree jumps, collection, and handling. You can teach your Cao De Castro Laboreiro jumping right and left. You could be outside the box and send your Cao De Castro Laboreiro or you can handle from within the box. Your jumps can be staged in a horizontal line, so that you can practice serpentines and threadles.
Teach a Cao De Castro Laboreiro 8 Jumps
Go to the next logical step and work on 8 jumps. Now you can position 2 boxes with 1 starter jump. You’ve now multiplied your drills that you can try with your Cao De Castro Laboreiro. Your jump grids can be of recommended size and quantity of jumps. You could also setup the jumps in a circle with the jump bars perpendicular to the circle or on the perimeter of the circle. This setup also allows you to develop a variety of drills.
Teach Your Cao De Castro Laboreiro Double and Triple Jumps
Your next consideration is a double jump and a triple jump. You can set two or 3 solo jumps together to make your expanded jump, however having double and triple jumps in your course work is especially helpful to practice. We’ve seen many Cao De Castro Laboreiros run a flawless course and the last obstacle is a triple and the Cao De Castro Laboreiro is not equipped for it, and bang, down comes the bar.
