There exists as many ways to rear a Field Spaniel puppy as there are to raising a child. In truth, one method per household at minimum! Field Spaniels don’t understand English till we train them.

In the beginning, they study us to discover our body movement, our expressions and our language. Till we teach them the English language, it’s all they have. The more youthful your Field Spaniel is, the faster he is growing, the more food and water he needs to fuel his metabolism, and the more regularly he needs to go potty. Do not penalize your puppy when he makes a house-breaking error. These are YOUR fault. The age of your Field Spaniel in weeks and his size establish how often he must head out. Once each hour is not too often for a big 6-week old puppy, particularly if it is summer. Field Spaniels love the interesting smells outdoors, so there is no reason to not have him housebroken by 7-8 weeks of age. Right after a nap, after he eats and after grooming are the key times, and he will alert you. If he is happily chewing a toy and gets up suddenly with his nose to the flooring, act rapidly! And whenever he goes potty outside, applaud him to high heaven! “What an excellent BOY!”, “EXCELLENT go potty!” and the like. Field Spaniels like our happy faces, and they will do anything to get it.
Field Spaniels live for our facial expressions and body movement.
Because of this, the worst penalty you ever can provide your Field Spaniel is a scowl and to turn away from him. You can see his tail drop and his face get so sad. He will figure out the lesson, I ensure it. But his attention span is only 3-5 minutes, so do not deride him any more. Love him up and give him your happy face again. Physical penalty is never needed. Use consistent commands and loving praise and he will understand what you desire of him prior to you know. He will end up being a master of your body language and expressions in no time at all.
