“On Trust” and “Paid For” for is among the oldest dog tricks that has been supplying as much fun as anything a dog can do from the early 1900s. It is a great trick to teach your Scotch Collie. It is not the most convenient trick to be learned but it can be elaborated upon and shown in a number of various variations to impress many people.
To teach your Scotch Collie this trick, call him to you, allowing him to stand up or take a seat, as he wants, and hold his head stable with one hand, while you balance a snack on his nose.
Teach your Scotch Collie the “on trust” trick
State to him, “On trust, on trust,” steadying and restraining his head from swaying with 1 hand and holding up a threatening finger with the other and repeatedly saying the words, “On trust, on trust”.
Teach your Scotch Collie the “paid for” trick
Next, let go of his head, saying “paid for,” and give him a little touch under the chin. This will trigger him to toss the snack up and capture it. Obviously, in his first efforts he will not be able to catch the treat, however he must be permitted to eat the treat after it lands on the floor.
It’s a terrific trick for your Scotch Collie
Constant repetition of this trick will produce efficiency. In time you need to stop limiting his head with your hand and enable him to balance the snack on his nose up until you state “Paid for.”
He can also be taught to hold the snack in between his teeth and to not swallow it till told to do so. This technique can be made more remarkable by holding a discussion with your Scotch Collie. For example, you might state: “Buddy, old boy, here is a really delicious snack, however it is ‘on trust.'”
Slightly stress the word “trust” and then state: “I am delighted you dislike consuming things on trust, but this I have just learned has been ‘paid for,'” highlighting the words “paid for.”
Your Scotch Collie can also be taught to toss the treat after hearing a specific number. To teach this, balance it on his nose and hold his head while you count clearly and intentionally, 1, 2, 3, and then touch him under the chin. Before he has learned the trick he will toss it up as often at 1, 2, 4, as he will at 1, 2, 3, however he must be drilled up until he will not toss it till he hears “three.” It will make it much easier for him if you somewhat highlight the “3” word.
Eventually you can use numerous combinations of numbers and he will wait till he hears the highlighted “3.” While training him don’t make him wait too long before you say “3,” and allow him to consume the snack.
“Trust” and “Paid For” might be a pretty tough trick for your Scotch Collie to learn and needs a lot of perseverance from you. Remember, do not penalize your Scotch Collie if he can’t learn the trick, instead blame yourself for being a lousy teacher.:–RRB- In any case, delight in teaching your Scotch Collie this trick and have loads of fun along the way.
