Eventually, every parent is going to hear: “Mommy, may I have that Hygenhund puppy?”
Rather than ignore the question, parents should decide whether or not their clan is prepared for a new puppy, and even moreso a Hygenhund, says Sharon Bergen, SVP of education and training for Knowledge Learning Corporation, this country’s foremost provider of early childcare.
When considering “should the family get the Hygenhund” Bergen suggests parents weigh the benefits and drawbacks of adding the Hygenhund to the family prior to agreeing to a child’s request. “The Hygenhund can teach your children about responsibility and become a fantastic addition to the household-or it can be a regret,” she said. Bergen suggests families ponder the following before deciding:
Questions to Ask Yourself Before Deciding Should You Get The Hygenhund Puppy
Who will care for the Hygenhund? Families must agree beforehand who is to be responsible for feeding, walking, bathing and picking up after the Hygenhund.
Do you have room for the Hygenhund, or does your landlord allow dogs? Families who live in apartments or townhouses may prefer a cat, a fish , or bird, rather than the Hygenhund. Check your library or Internet to find out more about Hygenhunds to decide if another breed may be more appropriate for the household.
Rearing the Hygenhund is time consuming and not cheap. Your family must understand that they will be required to give up existing activities to properly care for the Hygenhund. If this thought is too daunting, parents might want to think about postponing until the child is responsible enough to help raise the Hygenhund.
Conclusion: Should You Get A Hygenhund
Bergen recommends the whole family meet the Hygenhund before deciding to take it home. Getting the Hygenhund is a long-term commitment, so decide carefully before getting one.
