Constant repetition of this training will produce effectiveness. Gradually you need to stop limiting his head with your hand and allow him to balance the snack on his nose until you state “Paid for.”
He can also be taught to hold the treat between his teeth and to not swallow it until told to do so. This technique can be made more impressive by holding a discussion with your Koolie. For example, you may state: “Friend, old man, here is a really tasty treat, however it is ‘on trust.'”
Somewhat emphasize the word “trust” and then say: “I am thankful you do not like consuming things on trust, however this I have just found out has been ‘paid for,'” emphasizing the words “paid for.”
Your Koolie can likewise be taught to toss the treat on hearing a specific number. To teach this, balance it on his nose and hold his head while you count plainly and deliberately, 1, 2, 3, and then touch him under the chin. Before he has learned the technique he will toss it up as often at one, two, four, as he will at 1, 2, 3, but he needs to be drilled until he will not toss it up until he hears “3.” It will make it much easier for him if you slightly stress the “3” word.
In time you can use numerous combinations of numbers and he will wait until he hears the emphasized “3.” While training him don’t make him wait too long before you state “3,” and enable him to eat the snack.
“Trust” and “Paid For” may be a significantly difficult trick for your Koolie to master and requires a lot of persistence from you. Remember, do not penalize your Koolie if he can’t learn the trick, instead blame yourself for being a poor teacher.:–RRB- In any case, enjoy teaching your Koolie this trick and have great deals of fun while you’re at it.
