Are you struggling to teach your Cesky Fousek to sit? The technique of sitting up is quickly taught to little dogs, yet larger canines are a different story. It’s problematic for them to sustain their equilibrium.
Teach Your Cesky Fousek to Sit: Preparing
Sitting up is one of the 1st tricks that should be taught to your Cesky Fousek and provides the ground work for numerous other techniques. To train a Cesky Fousek to sit up, organize some snacks as a reward, and put the Cesky Fousek on her haunches in the corner, to make sure that she is not able to fall either backward or sideways and has very little or no room to lose balance.
Teach Your Cesky Fousek to Sit: Familiarize Her With The Words
Keep her from pitching forward by securing 1 hand beneath her chin and with the second hand hold her treat above her nose. Keep saying intelligibly and distinctly, “sit.” Don’t make her sit for too long at any one time, but repeat the lesson often and reward her frequently with loads of adoration and treats.
Teach Your Cesky Fousek to Sit: Help Her Stay Balanced
Throughout her beginner lesson she will demand quite a bit of support from your hand to stop her from falling forward, but as she gets control of the balancing muscles and realises what you want, she’ll count less and less on your hand to keep her steady. Then you can gradually give her less support til you will only have to keep one hand in position two or three inches from her neck or chin, to be prepared to prevent her from falling forward; in the future you will be able to withdraw this hand and just hold the reward just above the height of your Cesky Fousek’s face.
Teach Your Cesky Fousek To Sit: Remove the Assistance Slowly And Gradually
After consistent practice your Cesky Fousek will stay seated for a long time after you set her up. Afterward she should be set up against the wall, so as to offer her a support for her back. When she has grasped this and can keep her position effortlessly, rehearse with her up against chair legs, pillows or other items that offer her less and less assistance. Ultimately she will learn to maintain her equilibrium and sit up without needing something to rest against.
Teach Your Cesky Fousek to Sit: Putting It All Together
In the course of all these lessons the command "sit up" will have been ingrained upon her mind with the assistance of frequent repetition. Now comes the final training to teach your Cesky Fousek to sit up immediately after she hears the command. Chances are, if she has been carefully trained, you will simply have to summon her out in the room, show to her a treat, hold it up a suitable distance from the ground, say "sit up or sit" and she'll do so. Then you'll give her the reward while still in position.
The only prerequisite for excellence is to practice with her several times daily until she will sit when told and without being shown a snack; give her the rewards only after she has obeyed the command.
Teach Your Cesky Fousek Other Tricks
You have now the fundamentals for teaching your Cesky Fousek many other skills. She can now be taught to beg by moving your hand up and down just in front of her paws, which she will move in coordination with yours. She can also learn to salute by bringing one paw to the side of her head, or to keep a toy in her mouth, or to wear a hat on her head or wear other clothing.
In training a Cesky Fousek to submit to being dressed up, don't try to make her wear too many garments simultaneously. Try her at first with just a hat. Only after she gets familiar with that you can put on a coat and progressively introduce her to more clothes.
