General Pug Obedience Tips

Training needs to be a positive and enjoyable experience for both you and the Pug. If you’re not in the best mindset for training, do not even start. Always reward the Pug for listening to your orders to the letter! A treat is anything that your Pug desires and is willing to earn. Food is a great prize but other treats could be verbalized commendation and playthings. Several shorter sessions are usually better than a long one. Training must not involve any degrading components or punishment. There should be no shouting, no smacking or hitting, no chain jerking on training chains or collars, and absolutely no electric shocking! Every training opportunity should be pleasant and confidence-building with praise for a job well done.

Training Pugs with head collars

Dragging the leash is one of the few negative requirements of training a new Pug puppy. Utilizing a head collar for Pug training has become very popular during the last few years. Training with a head collar does have some unique advantages over the traditional training collar. While very easy to utilize, it’s important that head collars are fit correctly and your Pug systematically introduced to the collar. Head collars are pretty much more simple to use than an usual training collar. Head collars are very effective when training Pugs in difficult situations.
