General Papillon Obedience Tips
Training should be a pleasant and rewarding situation for both you and your Papillon. If you’re not in the right mindset for training, do not even think of starting. Always reward your Papillon for listening to your commands to the tee! A treat is anything that your Papillon desires and is happy to earn. Snacks are the typical prize but different treats could be oral praise and playthings. Several brief sessions are typically more effective than one long one. Training shouldn’t contain any degrading comments or punishment. There should be no yelling, no hitting or smacking, no leash jerking on choke leashes or collars, and absolutely no electricity! Every single training opportunity should be enjoyable and positive with praise for a job well done.
Training Papillons with head collars
Dragging the lead is one of the few negative requirements of bringing up a new Papillon puppy. Using a head collar for Papillon training has become very popular throughout the last few years. Training with a head collar does have some advantages over the usual training collar. Even though it is very easy to utilize, it’s important that head collars are fit properly and your Papillon systematically introduced to the collar. Head collars are pretty much more easy to use than a standard training collar. Head collars are very powerful when training Papillons in tricky situations.
