This post is about teaching the Russo-European Laika jumping for agility. We are often asked, “What number of jumps is best to begin with?” You can never have enough single jumps to learn agility. A suitable starting point is four jumps. This is the absolute least number of jumps that we suggest.
Teaching a Russo-European Laika jumping: Start with Four
You can teach a Russo-European Laika many exercises, drills, and skills with 4 jumps. 4 jumps will allow you to develop on a short jump chute or jump grid. You can practice on a “box” with your jumps and work on handling, collection, and 270 degree jumps. You can teach your Russo-European Laika jumping left and right. You can be out of the box and send your Russo-European Laika or you can handle from the inside of the box. Your jumps could be staged in a lateral row, so you could practice threadles and serpentines.
