This post is concerning how to teach your Rafeiro Do Alentejo jumping for agility. We are often asked, “How many jumps should I begin with?” You can never have enough single jumps to learn agility. One good starting point is four jumps. This is the minimum quantity of jumps that we recommend.
How to Teach the Rafeiro Do Alentejo jumping: Begin with Four
You can teach the Rafeiro Do Alentejo many drills, skills, and exercises with 4 jumps. Four jumps will let you develop on a short jump chute or jump grid. You can setup a “box” with your jumps and practice 270 degree jumps, collection, and handling. You can teach your Rafeiro Do Alentejo jumping left and right. You can be out of the box and send your Rafeiro Do Alentejo or you can handle from the inside of the box. Your jumps could be staged in a horizontal row, so you can practice serpentines and threadles.
