This post is concerning teaching the Schweizerischer Niederlaufhund to jump for agility. We are often asked, “What number of jumps should I start with?” You can’t ever have too many single jumps to learn agility. A good starting place is four jumps. This is the fewest number of jumps that we recommend.
How to Teach Your Schweizerischer Niederlaufhund jumping: Start with Four
You can teach the Schweizerischer Niederlaufhund many skills, drills, and exercises with four jumps. 4 jumps will let you develop on a short jump chute or jump grid. You can position a “box” with your jumps and practice 270 degree jumps, collection, and handling. You can teach your Schweizerischer Niederlaufhund jumping right and left. You can be outside the box and send your Schweizerischer Niederlaufhund or you can handle from within the box. Your jumps could be staged in a horizontal line, so you could practice threadles and serpentines.
