To teach your Paisley Terrier tricks, even easy ones, you should have in hand some small snacks, go to a quiet suitable place and hold the training sessions to ten to fifteen minutes or your Paisley Terrier will begin to get tired. Always remember when he gets something correct give him great deals of appreciation and a reward treat, just take care not to get him extra fired up or he might just lose focus.
Teach your Paisley Terrier to give you his paw
To train your Paisley Terrier to give you his paw, initially get him to sit, then as you say the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and offer him a treat. After that repeat this, and after a few successful tries don’t take his paw so fast. State the word ‘paw’, count to one and after that take it. You should see that he is raising his paw up as you say the word. If he doesn’t then go back to stating it at the very same time. Do it a couple more times then slow your reaction once again. After a few sessions most Paisley Terriers pick this trick up quite quickly.
Teach your Paisley Terrier to give you a high five
Like a great deal of tricks the high five is a continuation of a basic trick, in this case it’s the paw trick. Hold a snack in your fingers and raise your hand a little bit higher than you’d do for the paw trick. Your Paisley Terrier will presume you want to perform the paw trick and will grab the snack with his paw as we had instructed him previously. Once he reaches up you say “high 5” and give your Paisley Terrier the treat. As soon as your Paisley Terrier has mastered the paw trick this 1 should be very simple to master and with only a few sessions he will be doing it from your hand signal rather than vocal commands.
Teach your Paisley Terrier to jump through a hoop
Before you start this 1 I would simply like to ask you to be a little practical and not suspend the hoop too high up as you don’t really want your Paisley Terrier to injure himself while performing the trick. Set your Paisley Terrier to 1 side of a hula hoop, get him to pay attention to your hand on the other side of the hoop. Hold a snack in your hand and give the Paisley Terrier the direction to stop sitting. Initially he might attempt to go around or below the hoop. If this occurs begin once again. Your Paisley Terrier desires the treat and will quickly find out that walking around or beneath does not get it done so he will soon start going through it. Once he does, say “hoop” and give him the treat. He will quickly be jumping through the hoop upon the command of “hoop”. When I first began teaching this trick I had a medium sized dog, so I started with the hoop six inches from the floor and gradually brought it to waist high. In the event that you have a smaller sized dog you may want to start with the hoop on the ground so he simply goes through the hoop and after that slowly raise it more as he gets used to the trick.
I hope you have enjoyed these 3 tricks you can teach your Paisley Terrier. Have patience with your Paisley Terrier and most importantly, have a good time!
