To teach your Montenegrin Mountain Hound tricks, even simple ones, you need to get hold of some small treats, take him to an obscure suitable place and always keep the teaching sessions to ten to fifteen minutes or the Montenegrin Mountain Hound will start to get tired. Take note that when he gets something right offer him lots of praise and a reward treat, just beware not to get him over thrilled or he will lose concentration.
Teach your Montenegrin Mountain Hound to give you his paw
To train your Montenegrin Mountain Hound to offer you his paw, first get him to sit, then as you state the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and give him a snack. After that repeat this, and after a few practices do not take his paw so quickly. Say the word ‘paw’, count to one and after that take it. You should observe that he is bringing his paw upward as you say the word. If he doesn’t then go back to stating it at the same time. Do it a few more times then slow your reaction once again. After just a couple of sessions most Montenegrin Mountain Hounds pick this trick up quite easily.
Teach your Montenegrin Mountain Hound to give you a high five
Like a great deal of tricks the high five is a progression of a more basic trick, in this case it’s the paw trick. Hold a treat in between your fingers and raise your hand just a bit higher than you would for the paw trick. Your Montenegrin Mountain Hound will think you wish to do the paw trick and will grab the treat with his paw as we had taught him in the prior trick. While he reaches up you say “high five” and give your Montenegrin Mountain Hound the snack. As soon as your Montenegrin Mountain Hound has mastered the paw trick this one will most likely be very easy to understand and with only a few sessions he will be accomplishing it on hand signal rather than vocal commands.
Teach your Montenegrin Mountain Hound to jump through a hoop
Before you start this 1 I would simply like to ask you to be a little reasonable and not hold the hoop too high as you don’t want your Montenegrin Mountain Hound to injure himself while carrying out the trick. Set your Montenegrin Mountain Hound on 1 side of a hula hoop, get him to take notice of your hand on the other side of the hoop. Hold a snack in your hand and offer the Montenegrin Mountain Hound the command to stop sitting. In the beginning he might try to go around or under the hula hoop. When this happens begin once again. Your Montenegrin Mountain Hound wants the treat and will soon discover that walking around or below does not get it done so he’ll soon start going through it. Whenever he does, say “hoop” and give him the snack. He’ll soon be leaping through the hoop on the command of “hoop”. When I initially began doing this trick I owned a medium sized dog, so I began with the hoop 6 inches from the floor and slowly brought it to waist height. In case you possess a smaller sized dog you might want to start with the hoop on the ground so he simply goes through the hoop and then slowly raise it more once he gets accustomed to the trick.
